What is Vector Art?
In digital art there are two layer formats: raster and vector. Raster formats are based in pixels and vector is based in paths and points.

When you resize a raster image, you are expanding the pixels. Your program has to try to estimate what the colours would be for the additional pixels created. Due to this, the image loses it's clarity and creates a pixel effect.

When you resize a vector image, you are increasing the distance between the points. Due to this, the image doesn't lose it's clarity and doesn't pixellate.

In the previous article of the typography series I presented some of the basic principles of type design and we started designing a geometric sans typeface such as Futura. In this article we will expand that typeface and add italics and alternate weights. Or rather, I will show you how to design italics and briefly present how you can modify your regular weight typeface to create alternate weights rather than having to re-draw the whole letter.

Oh hai you scalable lovers!

Just a quick note to say that due to the new Premium Content Platform, there is a new gallery specifically for this content which you can find here.

It goes without saying, only content which is available via the new Premium Content Platform and is a resource for Adobe Illustrator (regardless for the version), is acceptable in this gallery.

Any submissions we get which are submitted to the wrong gallery, do get declined and we don't leave a reason. This is simply because this group is just a listing of Adobe Illustrator content and is intended to not take much time for the admins to monitor. Please don't take it personally as we only decline miscats!

Please help me .I want to create a logo but i need for the resolution ? please !!

Vector images don't have a resolution as they're calculated shapes. When you print a vector image it already pops out with the highest resolution.

But in some cases you have to rasterize the shape. 300 dpi is in general the highest resolution you'll need for print. If the document is at that setting (in Photoshop for instance) you'll notice that the canvas becomes considerably larger. Insert the vector shape in the document, shrink or expand it to the needed size, and then rasterize.
